FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Child Playing Piano
  • Is there a contract I have to sign upon registering?
There is NO contract! Sign up and discontinue at any time, so long as you abide by our cancellation policy.
  • What are your rates?
One 30-minute piano or singing lesson is $25. One 60-minute piano or singing lesson is $50. One artist development lesson is $60, or $660 for the entire 11-week curriculum.
  • How do I pay for lessons?
Paypal or e-transfer is the preferred method of payment. Cash is unfortunately not accepted. Students can pay for a number of lessons upfront, or they can pay on a weekly basis. This will be decided during your free consultation with Jenn.
  • Are there any additional fees I'll have to pay after signing up for lessons?
Piano students will be asked to purchase the recommended books and/or sheet music to assist them with their learning. Those who are interested in registering for examinations will have to pay a registration fee. Piano students are expected to have a properly tuned piano with a damper pedal at home. Vocal students interested in pop, rock, country, theate, or rap music will not have to purchase books or sheet music. Classical singing students will be required to purchase books to assist them with their learning. Those enrolled in the artist development program will not have any additional fees.
  • What is Jenn's cancellation policy?
If you have to miss a lesson, please notify Jenn at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled lesson. Once you do, Jenn will happily reschedule your lesson or issue a refund if that's what you'd prefer. Lessons cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will not be rescheduled and no refunds will be given.
  • I want to discontinue. How do I go about doing that and will I receive a refund?
If you have purchased a package of lessons upfront but would like to discontinue, that's totally fine. You will receive a refund for the remaining lessons. However, please keep in mind that Jenn requires at least 24 hours of notice in order to issue a refund. For example, if you have a lesson scheduled on Thursday evening and decide to discontinue 2 hours before that scheduled lesson, you will not receive refund for that specific lesson. You will however receive a refund for the remaining lessons you paid for.
  • Does Jenn provide in-person lessons?
Yes! Jennifer Connor Studio of The Arts is now open for in-person lessons. The studio is located on Beaver Street in Burlington, ON.
  • Does Jenn provide group lessons?

  • Does Jenn provide 30-minute hybrid lessons (15 minutes of piano, 15 minutes of singing)?
Unfortunately, Jenn does not provide hybrid lessons. Those interested in both piano and singing will have to pay for a full one hour lesson -- 30 minutes of piano, 30 minutes of singing. Jennifer Connor Studio Of The Arts is a premium music school with a heavy focus on playing and singing with proper technique -- 15 minutes unfortunately just isn't enough time to learn technique properly on a weekly basis. Jenn wants all of her students to progress and achieve their desired goals. The curriculum is designed to focus on one instrument for 30 minutes.
  • How can I track my child's progress?
Jenn truly cares about her students and their progress. At the end of each lesson, you will receive an email directly from Jenn explaining what your child learned in class and what he/she should be practicing for next week's lesson. This email will be quite detailed and will explain what your child is excelling at, and what they need to improve on.
  • Do I have to enroll in RCM examinations?
No, not at all! RCM examinations are very rewarding, but completely optional. Jenn customizes each lesson based on her student's desires and goals.
  • How long does it take to prepare for piano examinations?
It typically takes one year to fully prepare for an examination.
  • How often should I (or my child) practice?
It is recommended that all students practice for 15 minutes per day. Students are more likely to progress by practicing for a small amount of time every day, as opposed to practicing for an extended period of time once a week.
  • If I or my child participates in the Artist Development program, will Jenn personally connect us with industry professionals?
Jenn Connor is an independent recording artist and in no way affiliated with any record labels or agencies. In offering this program, Jenn is not acting as an agent, representative, or any form of management capacity for students who participate in the program. Rather, the program is designed to provide students with tips and advice on brand development and introduce the means by which an aspiring artist can promote themselves and their music.
